Movie Blog Response

            So far, I like the movie Do the Right Thing because it is a good story and the tension that causes the problems between characters makes for a good movie. The point that this movie is making is to show the conflicts between people in New York City in the eighty’s. There are many instances where the story could be changed by a decision, and that may be why it is called Do the Right Thing. People watching it will have different opinions of what the right thing to do it, but we have to watch and see what will come of the decisions that these characters make throughout the story. In almost every situation or conflict, I’d say that the people made the wrong decision and resulted in the wrong outcome. Sal did not have to be so aggressive every time someone began causing trouble, Buggin’ Out should not have made such a big deal about the pictures in someone else’s restaurant, Raheem should have listened to Sal when he said to turn the music off, Sal should not have destroyed Raheem’s boom box, Raheem should not have attacked Sal, and the police should not have been so forceful on Raheem because it resulted in his death. All of these wrong decisions led to the terrible ending. The only time I can remember someone doing the “right” thing in a situation was when Da Mayor saved the boy from getting hit by a car. This movie is called Do the Right Thing, but most of the movie consists of people doing the opposite of that.
